Volunteer Opportunities

Board Member

Is responsible for attending as many monthly meetings as possible to assist in making decisions regarding program.  Hold voting power.

Time commitment: approximately 1-1.5 hours monthly

 

Committee Chairs-General

Is responsible for attending as many monthly meetings as possible to assist in making decisions regarding program.  Submitting reports and/or proposals to the board of directors regarding individual committee.  Organizing volunteers within committee.

 

Fields Chair

Responsible for measuring and laying out fields.  Dependent upon need, may even reconfigure field layout to suit needs of season.  Painting of fields throughout season.

 

Referee Chair

Responsible for organizing and scheduling refs for game days.  Paying & and supplying refs when they arrive for games (or arranging to have someone else there).

 

Concessions Chair

Responsible for purchasing, setting up, and closing the concession stand each week during the season.  Responsible for getting the concession keys from the Parks Dept and returning them.  Responsible for scheduling with Spring Green and Driftless for their concession days.

 

Equipment Chair

Inventory of equipment- Excel file

Keep president and registrar up to date of inventory so they can order supplies

Keep file of volunteers received from Registrar, contact volunteers to help with equipment needs

 

Rules/Competition Chair

Keep the board informed of rule changes.  Update RARYS rules and submit to the board for approval.

 

Muscoda Chair

Responsible for organizing the Muscoda teams and dividing teams when needed.  Liaison between Muscoda teams and RARYS board.  Conducts the parent meeting prior to start of season.  Recruits coaches and may try to reach players if there aren’t enough.

 

Driftless Chair

Liasion between Driftless teams and RARYS board.

 

Coach

Attend coach meetings.  Set up practice times.  Work with assistant coach(es).  Stay in contact with players’ parents.  Run practices, we will even supply “lesson plans.”  Attend games and make a line-up.  We will try to work with you if you need a specific time frame for games.  Max of 4 practices prior to first game, then 1 practice weekly.  Including first practices, the season runs about 10 weeks (as long as there are no make-up weeks), starting the last week or two of August.  Games start the Saturday after Labor Day and run for 8 weeks.  *You will coach your own child

Time commitment approx: 40 hours

 

Assistant Coach

Attend coach meetings if possible.  Work with coach.  Assist where needed, may be as simple as running herd in younger age groups, or setting up for drills/games.  Max of 4 practices prior to first game, then 1 practice weekly.  Including first practices, the season runs about 10 weeks (as long as there are no make-up weeks), starting the last week or two of August.  Games start the Saturday after Labor Day and run for 8 weeks.  *You will coach your own child

Time commitment approx: 35 hours

 

Field Prep

Responsibilities include:

Assisting in the laying out of fields.

Painting lines during the season-This is usually done on weekdays or evenings.

 

Concessions

Work during the season at the concession stand by the parking lot.  You will be contacted by the Concession Chair to sign up for a time slot.

Time commitment approx. 1-1.5 hours

 

Equipment/Uniforms

Responsibilities include:

  • Blowing up balls in mid-August
  • Assemble coaching bags (balls, gloves, goalie jerseys, pinnies, cones, first aid kit)
  • Handing out jerseys to coaches
  • Collecting balls, coach supplies on last game day

You will be contacted by Equipment Chair to sign up for a specific time.

Time commitment approx. 1-1.5 hours

 

Referee

Ref games-do 1 or as many as you want
